Today, 3 years after the Drupal 6.0 release, we released Drupal 7.0 to the world. It is easier to use, more flexible, more scalable and 100% Open Source.

Drupal powers 1% of all the web sites in the world; with all the improvements in Drupal 7, I expect that number to go up.

About 1,000 people contributed to Drupal 7. It is a legendary piece of work, by the community, for the community. On Friday, we celebrate the release with 248 parties in 88 countries. Make sure to buy these people a drink.

Hi Dries,

At Drupalcon SF you announced that Drupal powers, "1% of the Alexa top 1,000,000 websites" [1], but this blog post says it's "1% of all the web sites in the world"?

According to Netcraft, there are about 102,400,000 active sites on the web [2]. 1% of 1,000,000 is 10,000, but 1% of 102,400,000 is 1,024,000. That's two orders of magnitude difference!

It's true that if Drupal is powering 1% of the top million sites on the web, it's probably serving up a significant portion of the web's traffic, but that's not what this blog post says, and I'm worried that people are retweeting this claim all around the web if it's inaccurate.

Please clarify.

PS: Congrats on getting D7 out!

Congratulation to the community!

Yesterday, we have had a good time along with fellow Drupalers during Drupal 7 Release Party yesterday in Jakarta, Indonesia. Also, adding more spice to the event, Mozilla Community Indonesia and Adobe User Group Indonesia also attended our little gathering and share tips on leveraging their technology with Drupal.

Here are some videos and interviews with fellow developers in Indonesia:

Thank you for such great CMS solution.
