Ric Johnson of OpenDomain bought the drupal.com domain from a cyber-squatter and donated it to me. For more information, read the press release at Yahoo! Finance. Thanks for the generosity, Ric!

Taken from the press release:

OpenDomain.org acquired drupal.com at great expense, and in donating it to Drupal, has shown sincere altruism and generosity and has made a significant contribution to the larger effort of creating a great open-source software product," said Dries Buytaert, founder of Drupal, an open source content management platform. "OpenDomain's generous donation will enable us to extend Drupal's presence and facilitate continued growth of the Drupal project. We are very grateful for this contribution.

Ric (not verified):

Thank you and Robert for having faith in OpenDomain, even when I did not know if it was a good project. (I am still not sure).

And thank you for Drupal. You have put quite alot of yourself into the project - it shows what a real Open Source community can do with a good leader.

Remember - drupal.com is yours to do with as you want. If you want to redirect it to drupal.org, setup a commerical site, or a professional services site - whatever your community decides. Matt Mullenweg taught me a valuable lesson - to trust you to do the right thing.
